Joey Superstein

General Counsel

What do you do at Urban Communities?

I joined Urban Communities in 2019 as Associate General Counsel to assist with legal and operational matters relating to acquisition, repositioning, and portfolio management of the company's multifamily assets across the United States. I became General Counsel in 2022 and currently oversee all legal matters for the business.

What is your experience?

I began my career working in hockey operations for the Edmonton Oilers of the NHL. Prior to joining Urban Communities, I worked for a large national law firm, a private real estate investment company, and Thomas Pride International, a family office that focuses on real estate and franchising. I hold a B.A. in Political Science from Arizona State University and a J.D. from DePaul University College of Law in Chicago, IL.

How did you get into the industry?

Growing up in an entrepreneurial family, our dinner table discussions were always about business and real estate, so they became an area of interest from an early age.

What are your hobbies and interests?

Cooking, traveling, fitness, men's league hockey, a great beach, and my family's garage band jam sessions.

What is the best piece of advice you have been given?

Once your words leave your mouth, you don't own them anymore.
